Residential

An existing extension to a house is critically analyzed and expanded so that a new layout can arise. The incoherent load-bearing structures are simplified and uniformed into an architectural language that forms the basis for the new functions. This creates a new hierarchy in the setup and the use of the spaces.

A central and contrasting volume of dark, smoked oak planks divides the different spaces. The adjoining wine display, made from a soft-veined Travertine natural stone, continues on the floor and the kitchen island. The monochrome, warm, earthy color palette contributes to a sober atmosphere. The moldings in the TV room create the link with the earlier classic home and add an extra detail layer to the design.

The artworks are by artist Fino Prydz.
