This project is located at the Belgian coastline, near the golf club of Knokke.
The three story holiday house has to convey the vibe of the coastline and its surroundings: the sea, horizon and dunes. These elements were interpreted in an abstract way and converted to a design language used consistently throughout the interior.
A lower skirting is a subtle reference to the horizon and endlessness of the sea. While the horizontally veined travertine blocks compositions are an abstraction of the dunes and its partial views. Soft curves in the loose elements and carpentry refer to yacht design, enhancing the concept and holiday feeling. The combination of sandy wall finishes, the brushed larch wood and poured concrete floor, including smaller pebbles and shell pieces, becomes a specific casual and serene identity. Custom bedframes and sofas go along with the sourced rare vintage pieces.
